"I started off my wedding plans originally not wanting a photographer. My husband didn't want to be posing all day and I felt very uneasy because I'm not the most photogenic person. Luckily parents talked me around and Alan was one of two of our photographers on our special day.
I'm so glad my parents did talk me round because the photos are amazing! Alan didn't just take hundreds of random shots to pick out the good ones. He carefully chose his moments and a selection of beautiful photos! I didn't have to scroll though a massive selection thinking "oh god look at me there" all the photos made me feel special and appreciate how wonderful my day had been.
Alan would just move me slightly if I needed positioning for a better shot and worked around my husband and I all through the day so we had time to also interact with our guests and enjoy the day. He was professional at all times but was also friendly and patient with us and our guests. The photos have been so good many of our suppliers have used our photos on their own websites.
I can't recommend Alan enough! So many people buy expensive cameras and think they are suddenly a photographer. Alan showed us that it takes a real talent and good eye to take a brilliant photo and he certainly has this. You will have to tell me what you drink Alan because we owe you a bottle of something"

"Alan is a true perfectionist so we were expecting photos of an extremely high standard. However, the results far exceeded our expectations. The photos are truly brilliant and have given us memories to keep forever. The location was stunning, Alan was fantastic and the final pictures are spectacular. Thank you Alan”

Whether you hire me as your photographer or decide to go with one of the other photographers in Peterborough you should ensure that they include the points below as part of their standard service.
You can be rest assured that I comply with all the points below. I perceive all these points as minimal requirements and so should you:
Always meet with your potential photographer before booking them and paying any kind of deposit.
All good photographers will offer a free no obligation consultation to discuss your needs. In fact, this is something I insist on before accepting a booking. This is also the perfect opportunity to break the ice and to assess if they are the right fit for you. This of course works both ways…
To arrange your free no obligation consultation simply contact me or via email or call me on 07776 154698.
Do they guarantee their work?
Unfortunately not many photographers in Peterborough appear to offer any kind of guarantee. Regardless of the type of photography service they are providing you i.e. wedding photography or a family portrait session you should ensure that they offer a guarantee in the form of either a refund or a free remedial photo session if this is a viable option.
Are they insured?
Unfortunately, even with the best intentions things still go wrong. Plans can be ruined, accidents can happen and people get ill.... a fact of life. This is why your photographer must be insured, so that in the unlikely event of such a situation you are able to make a claim against them. Your photographer should have both Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance. Without this insurance cover, they may not be permitted to work at the venue you have chosen for your wedding. This is especially important if your chosen venue is on the grounds of the National Trust.
So..... unless you're happy to have your photographer taking your wedding pictures from across the road, ensure that they have the adequate level of insurance cover.
Do they have the right equipment for the job?
I could probably imagine the look of horror on your face if I were to arrive on your wedding day armed only with my IPhone or a tiny digital camera that came free in a box of Corn Flakes. We can laugh about it here but situations like this have actually occurred.
Don’t get me wrong, there is no right or wrong when it comes to the make nor when it comes to the price. Obviously the camera equipment professionals use will be at the higher end of the price range, but it certainly does not have to be the most expensive. As long as all equipment used is up to the job of producing the beautiful, quality photographs you are expecting.
What you should be ensuring is that they have professional standard equipment which includes spares. Photographic equipment like most electronic / mechanical equipment can break down from time to time and of course…. accidents do happen.
Are they a competent photographer?
Mr Blogs may have the most expensive camera in the world but this does not necessarily mean he is a great photographer......maybe just rich and likes to take pictures when sailing on his yacht.
Photography can get very technical and take you deep into the world of physics, however it is also an art form so a happy balance of technical knowhow, artistic flare and a good eye for detail is required by the photographer to properly master their craft.
Of course every photographer develops their own style and therefore looking through their portfolio is essential to see if their style fits with your requirements and expectations.
"Alan, on behalf of myself and my new husband we want to thank you for all your hard work during our wedding. You made us and all of our friends and family feel so comfortable. You were very professional and so much fun to work with. You took on board everything we said and you didn’t disappoint. The photos turned out wonderful and we would definitely recommend you. Thank you Alan."
